CHT hosts an impressive music and arts ministry and program year-round. Our worship experience is enhanced with an extraordinary professional quality of dedicated musicians.
Dr. John French, Choirmaster/Organist has provided leadership at CHT for over 20 years. Our choir consists of professional and volunteer musicians who sing at the 11:00 service every Sunday. (Recordings of recent anthems can be found by clicking here).
The current organ has been failing for many years but will be replaced in the near future by a superior instrument previously located in another church in Philadelphia thanks to the generosity of local philanthropist, Fred Haas, and the Historic Organ Trust.
CHT’s tower houses the oldest manually operated carillon in North America.

Each Wednesday the church hosts free concerts during the lunch hour that feature performances by a wide range of Philadelphia artists. Once a month during the academic year, CHT performances include students from the world-famous Curtis Institute, located directly across Rittenhouse Square.

In the spring of each year we often host local and touring college choirs as part of our support of choral music. CHT also regularly rents its superb performance space with outside arts groups. Click here for more information.
As the only venue on the Square, our space, which seats nearly 1000 people, is in high demand for musical performances. We have also hosted art shows and dance and theatre performances. Click here for more information.
