Within the Episcopal Church, we encourage the discipline of making a commitment or pledge of financial support for the coming year. Each fall, we invite the members of the Church community to take a “leap of faith” and pledge their financial support in advance for the coming year. A pledge can always be modified later, but the discipline of prayerfully deciding in advance on a particular percentage of one’s income to give back to the Lord’s work can be a transformational decision in our lives, and one that allows the church to more accurately budget for the year to come.
The Episcopal Church sets the Christian standard for giving as a “tithe,” meaning one tenth of our income. If you don’t feel you can give to that extent right now, try choosing a lower percentage and working toward a tithe over several years. Use this pledge calculator to see how.
