What is Stewardship?

Stewards are people who take care of things that have been entrusted to them until the true owner returns.  We are all given time, talent, and opportunity, as well as physical things like our paychecks, our homes, and our savings.  As Christians, we continually remember that God has entrusted all these things to our care, not so that we can cling to them as owners, but so that we can continually offer them back to God each day, eager for God to use our gifts to bring light and healing to the world.

It’s so easy for us to fall back into the “ownership” mentality of the world, but when we do, we often miss the blessing that comes from participating in God’s reconciling work.

Our God is a good and generous God.  He does not demand what is his.  In fact, He gave up his very life for our sake.  We seek to give back to the Lord what He has first given us, so that He might take our gifts, bless them, and multiply them for the good of the world.
