Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you. (2 Corinthians 5:17-20 “The Message” Translation)
Every week we gather around the altar and proclaim the greatest story ever told — that Jesus Christ, fully God and yet fully human, gave his own life to give us forgiveness, rose from the dead to overcome death itself, returned to his Father in heaven, and sent his own spirit to dwell in us. And we know that the Holy Spirit of God is working in our hearts and minds to change us… so that those truths won’t just be intellectual assents, but truths that bloom and sing in our souls and make us a little more like Jesus day by day. We are called, as 2nd Corinthians 5 says, to tell everyone what God is doing… present tense—now! At CHT, we’re invited to tell everyone what God is doing in the lives of our own parishioners and the lives of those to whom we minister.
