Stewardship Sunday is a fun Sunday! We joyously and lovingly pledge to give financial support to the Church and all its needs. We do this in thanksgiving to God for the beautiful sanctuary provided for our worship, spiritual growth, and fellowship, to which all are invited.
From a little child, my parents taught me the law of prosperity from the Scriptures. In 1st Chronicles Chapter 29:10-14, King David praises God, saying at verse 14, “For all things come of Thee, and of Thine own have we given Thee.”
It is axiomatic that abundance and prosperity are rewarded to the cheerful giver. Jesus says in Luke Chapter 6, verse 38, “Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
With no thought of receiving, it is impossible to avoid receiving, for the abundance you have given is returned to you in fulfillment of this law.
I share a “serendipitous” experience: I was once listening to an evangelist when I had a distinct “impression” that I should send him $50. (I knew his ministry accomplished good results.) A few weeks later, I was offered musical engagements totaling $950.
“To love is to release God’s unlimited storehouse of golden treasures.”
