Cook-Off (Ministry of Meals) The Cook-Off takes place once a month after the 11:00 am service. This community outreach event packages foods for shut-ins and the elderly within the city of Philadelphia, which are then distributed by Aid for Friends.

Fundraising Events Throughout the year, the Outreach Committee raises funds to support various non-profit organizations within the city of Philadelphia and beyond. Events have included rummage sales, silent auctions, wreath sales, handbag sales, pie sales, and a French Cafe during the Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Festival.

St. Mary’s Food Pantry On a monthly basis, the church collects non-perishable food items to help stock the food pantry at our sister church, St. Mary's Bainbridge Street.

Service Stickies You will notice boards up around the church with colorful sticky notes indicating ways in which we can be a part of outreach in our community. Opportunities have included low risk and high risk efforts. All have been important. Thank you for participating. Please continue to be generous!

Philadelphia is the poorest big city (population over one million) in the country, with half of all households with children, in some districts, not able to buy enough food for the family. Last year, in our region, nearly one in five children, lived in poverty. At 36.4%, Philadelphia has the highest child poverty rate in the five counties, with more than half of the city's poor children living in deep poverty, or $11,175 for a family of four (defined as less than half the federal poverty line, $22,350 for a family of four.) Philadelphia's rate of deep poverty for children increased from 15.6% (55,760 children) in 2009 to 19% (64,464 children) in 2010. “The care of another person – even material, bodily care – is spiritual in essence. Bread for myself is a material question, bread for my neighbor is a spiritual one.”
— Jacques Maritain
